A Collaboration With The Land Gardeners: Growing And Arranging Cut Flowers

10th October 2018

We are delighted to welcome Henrietta Courtauld and Bridget Elworthy of the Land Gardeners to our studio for the third in our series of collaborative workshops.

Based in Oxfordshire, The Land Gardeners grow organic British cut flowers and design wild and romantic productive gardens. Each week buckets of their blooms are delivered to London florists, local markets and individual clients.

The Flower Appreciation Society have a small cutting garden in Hackney, London. They grow a selection of beautiful and unusual bulbs, annuals and perennials which they use in their arrangements for weddings and workshops throughout the year.

This class is perfect for anyone who has an interest in growing their own cut flowers and wants to learn how to arrange them in a loose and natural style. All levels welcome.

The Workshop:

The day begins with The Land Gardeners discussing how to design, plan and manage your own cut flower garden, from a small patch to running your own business. They will cover how to use your existing garden as a cut flower resource and how to create new cut flower borders. You will learn how to plan a garden which will produce flowers in Spring/Summer 2019.

After lunch The Flower Appreciation Society will demonstrate how to design a seasonal arrangement, using flowers and foliage from both their cutting garden and The Land Gardeners’. They will discuss how to prepare your cut flowers for use, colour combinations, texture, shape and form. Next it’s your turn to make a beautiful arrangement using British flowers to take home with you.

A delicious seasonal lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided and plus all the flowers and materials that you will need.
